PDO Threads in Long Island

The solution for firmer, tighter skin!

Even with the best care, everyone will eventually reach a point in their lives where their skin will start to sag. The aesthetic industry has made it possible to delay sagging, and even fix it. The most common way to get visible results that reduce skin drooping is through invasive, and oftentimes risky, plastic surgery. However, PDO thread lifts are a great non-surgical alternative that yields results. Our Long Island med spa now offers PDO thread treatments to help you immediately achieve a tighter, more youthful-looking appearance.

WHAT ARE PDO THREADS?

PDO threads are syringes filled with absorbable sutures that are made of polydioxanone (PDO). When they are added to a person’s face, they spark an increase in collagen production that firms, tightens and contours skin nearby.

HOW IT WORKS

The use of PDO threads has been shown to stimulate the production of new collagen in your skin. This increase reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a healthier, more youthful appearance.

BENEFITS

PDO threads provide an alternative to dermal fillers and other injectables, while at the same time avoiding surgery. The benefits of PDO threads as a treatment include the fact that it’s a very safe and painless procedure with no scarring and minimal downtime.

RESULTS

Partial results can be seen within two days. Patients who try a PDO facelift typically see results within a matter of months. That being said, the final results can last for up to 18 months. Many patients choose to receive a touch-up at the 12-month mark in order to prolong the effects.

What Kind of PDO Threads Are There?

There are several different brands of PDO threads on the market. At Virtual Skin Spa, we offer both NovaThread and EuroThread brand polydioxanone threads. PDO threads can come in smooth and barbed versions.

Smooth PDO threads are created to help create volume by adding collagen that thickens skin in key areas. Barbed PDO threads are meant to lift and tighten skin, often working to reduce sagging in areas where the skin has become extremely loose. Both NovaThread and EuroThread procedures are FDA-approved and manufactured to the highest standards.

What Does A PDO Facelift Procedure Entail?

Prior to your PDO injections, you will be required to have a consultation at Virtual Skin Spa’s convenient Long Island location. At your consultation, your skin care specialist will determine how many syringes you will need, the type of threads that should be used, as well as the ideal placement of your threads.

During the procedure, a topical solution will be applied to your skin in order to numb the region. This is done for your comfort. Once your skin is sufficiently numb, your clinician will use a syringe to insert threads underneath your skin. Most procedures will use two or three threads for each side of your face.

Threads are most often applied to improve your jawline, your cheekbones, and wrinkles near your mouth. If you want to receive PDO threads to other parts of your body, the treatment will involve a different number of threads and may also take slightly longer. Your specialist will explain the details in full during your consultation.

What to Expect Post-Treatment

To be reviewed during your consultation, the downtime following a PDO thread treatment is typically minimal. Immediately after, minor swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness is to be expected. These can last for up to 24 hours and should subside over the next few days. You can resume your normal routine right away, but you’ll want to avoid extreme facial movements or anything that could strain your jaw. Engaging in heavy exercise, a facial massage, or visiting a sauna is also discouraged.
