WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Chemical peels involve the use of high-strength solutions containing lactic, glycolic, or salicylic acid, along with niacin. These solutions work by exfoliating the top layers of dry and dead skin, revealing fresher and more vibrant skin cells. During your consultation, your specialist will evaluate your skin concerns and determine the appropriate depth of the peel necessary to achieve optimal results.

HOW IT WORKS

After determining the most suitable chemical peel for achieving a more rejuvenated and youthful facial appearance, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed. Then, one or more chemical solutions will be applied to specific areas of the skin, causing controlled wounds that stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin for optimal results.

BENEFITS

Achieve smoother and softer skin by reducing acne and blemish breakouts, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, and improving hyperpigmentation and sun damage to even out skin tone. Additionally, superficial scars like acne scars can be visibly reduced.

RESULTS

Mild redness, crusting, and stinging may occur for a few days after the procedure with some peels, but recovery time is usually minimal, and no downtime is required. After a few days, any discomfort should subside, and you’ll be able to appreciate the full benefits of your revitalized skin.

Medical Peels in Long Island

Chemical peels can be categorized based on the depth of damage they cause to the skin. Superficial peels only affect the top layer of skin (epidermis), while medium peels may reach the superficial layer of the dermis. Deep peels, on the other hand, can penetrate the deeper layers of the dermis. The depth of damage depends on the strength and concentration of the chemicals in the solution and the duration of the peel. At our Long Island med spa, our team is highly skilled in providing safe and effective medical peel treatments.

The Peels

Medical Peel

To enhance the health and appearance of the skin, chemical peels are created to exfoliate layers of dead skin cells, replacing them with fresh and healthy skin. They work to improve the appearance of various visible skin imperfections such as fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation irregularities.

Jessner Peel

This effective peel is commonly used to manage sun spots, precancerous lesions, acne scars, coarse wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and melasma.

VI Peel

The VI Peel is a chemical peel that combines several ingredients and a mineral blend, to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity. This peel can reduce age spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation, and soften fine lines and wrinkles. It is also effective in treating acne and acne scars, and stimulating collagen production for firmer, more youthful skin. The VI Peel can be used in conjunction with lasers and injectables and regular use (two to four peels per year) can reverse sun damage, treat hyperpigmentation, loss of firmness, and rosacea. It is suitable for use on various body parts, including the chest, hands, arms, and back.

What to Expect Post-Treatment

After a chemical peel treatment, the skin may become more sensitive to the sun. Therefore, it is crucial to use sun protection to prevent further damage. Wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen and daily moisturizer is highly recommended, which will provide protection against both UVA and UVB rays from the sun. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat and limiting your time in the sun—especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.—is highly recommended.
