The Process
During your in-person consultation, your specialist will decide which Juvederm formula is right for you. Two weeks prior to injection, it is advised to stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil supplements. The reason for that is to decrease the risk of bruising at the injection site since these substances can have a unique effect on the bloodstream.
On the day of treatment, your medical provider will inject the Juvederm gel into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe wrinkles and folds occur. The number of vials used will be dependent on the size of the area being treated. An entire session can take up to one hour but will vary according to the patient.
The Difference Between Juvederm Ultra, Ultra Plus, and Voluma
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a more dense form of this cosmetic injection with a greater volumizing effect. It contains a local anesthetic (lidocaine) and is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth. The role of lidocaine is to reduce the pain associated with injections.
Juvederm Voluma is the first FDA-approved injectable gel to instantly add volume in the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift, helping restore contour and a more youthful profile for up to two years with optimal treatment. Juvederm Voluma is for patients over the age of 21.
