Juvederm Injections in Long Island

Restore Facial Volume Using Juvederm

As you age, it’s not just about fine lines and wrinkles. Your face can lose its volume, and the skin may begin to sag. This is due to a decrease in fullness brought on by the aging process. Most people have probably already heard of the popular filler, Juvederm, but you may not realize how many Juvederm options there are today on the market or the major differences.

WHAT IS JUVEDERM?

All variants of Juvederm comprise dermal fillers that are based on hyaluronic acid. By injecting this substance into the dermis, they help restore the lost natural hyaluronic acid, adding volume and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The development of the Juvederm line of products was aimed at providing an efficient means to counter the visible signs of aging.

HOW IT WORKS

A specialist will inject the Juvederm gel beneath the skin in order to temporarily restore volume. The gel then fills in wrinkles caused by aging, smoothing the skin and giving it a more youthful appearance effective immediately.

BENEFITS

Each type of Juvederm adds immediate volume and smooths out wrinkles by replenishing natural hyaluronic acid that has been lost. Juvederm products are created using a process called Hylacross, which makes it smoother and increases the predictability of results.

RESULTS

The results of a Juvederm treatment will typically last up to a year or more. You may require more than one treatment to achieve your desired appearance. Results will vary depending upon the injector, the facial area in which it was applied, and upon the individual’s overall health.

The Process

Upon scheduling an in-person consultation, your specialist will assess your needs and recommend the most suitable Juvederm formula for you. To reduce the risk of bruising at the injection site, it is generally recommended to discontinue the use of aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil supplements at least two weeks before the appointment. This is due to the potential impact these substances can have on the bloodstream.

During the treatment session, your medical provider will administer the Juvederm gel through injections into the affected facial tissue areas where there are moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. The number of vials required for the treatment will depend on the size of the area being addressed. The duration of the session can vary from patient to patient but typically takes up to one hour to complete.

The Difference Between Juvederm Ultra, Ultra Plus, and Voluma

What sets each Juvederm formula apart from other fillers is consistency and strength. Juvederm Ultra is made with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occurring in the connective tissues of the body. It is used to treat thin areas of skin around the eyes and lips. Hyaluronic acid is a key component of Juvederm Ultra Plus, which is a type of cosmetic injection that is specifically designed to address deeper lines in the treated areas.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a denser version of the injectable cosmetic product that delivers greater volume-boosting results. It includes a local anesthetic, lidocaine, which is administered alongside the facial filler to alleviate the discomfort that can occur with injections. This form of cosmetic treatment is commonly used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and folds, particularly in the areas surrounding the mouth and nose.

Juvederm Voluma is a gel-based injectable that has received approval from the FDA for the purpose of enhancing volume in the cheek region, giving the patient a skin lift that restores facial contour for up to two years with optimal treatment. Juvederm Voluma should not be used on patients under the age of 21.

What to Expect Post-Treatment

Minor redness, swelling or bruising following your Juvederm treatment may occur. The time it will take for you to see your final results varies depending on which filler you choose for treatment. The longevity of your Juvederm treatment will also greatly depend on which areas of the face are injected. Typically, results will be visible after swelling has decreased two to three weeks after your injections. While recovery time is minimal, it’s advised to avoid strenuous exercise, extreme temperatures, and too much muscle movement around the face.
