Botox, Dysport, & Xeomin

A Temporary Fix for Facial Wrinkles

As we get older, the muscles in our face tend to contract, creating permanent wrinkles and furrows in our skin. These lines are particularly noticeable around the mouth, forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of age lines and regain a more youthful appearance, Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin injections may be the perfect solution for you. Our Long Island med spa offers these treatments to help you achieve smoother, more vibrant skin that will make you look and feel younger. See our Botox FAQs here.

WHAT IS BOTOX, DYSPORT & XEOMIN?

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are all cosmetic injectables that contain botulinum toxin type A, which is approved by the FDA for temporary reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. These products are specifically formulated to target signs of aging, and are widely used in the field of cosmetic dermatology.

HOW IT WORKS

Neuromodulators are the class of injectables to which Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin belong. These treatments work by blocking the nerve signals that cause the facial muscles to contract, thus smoothing out frown lines and other wrinkles. By preventing muscle movement, these injectables temporarily reduce the appearance of aging skin.

BENEFITS

These injectables, Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, have a high safety profile and are simple yet effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles. They work by not only preventing the formation of deep lines during facial movements but also erasing existing signs of aging, giving you a younger look.

RESULTS

The purpose of these treatments is not to alter your appearance, but rather to relax your muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles in targeted areas. You will still be able to display a range of facial expressions as the treatment only works to soften wrinkles and fine lines, rather than freeze your facial muscles entirely.

What Is the Difference Between Xeomin and Botox Injections?

Xeomin and Botox are both neurotoxins used for treating fine lines and wrinkles, but the main difference between the two lies in their formulation. Botox is a complex mixture of proteins that includes accessory proteins, while Xeomin is a purer form of botulinum toxin type A. Xeomin does not contain any additional proteins, making it less likely to cause an immune reaction. Xeomin and Botox can both treat wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes, but Xeomin is typically used for cases where the patient has developed a resistance to Botox or experiences allergic reactions to the proteins.

How Are Botox, Dysport and Xeomin Injections Administered?

The injections of Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are a quick and simple process that takes less than 30 minutes to complete. A fine needle is used to inject the solution into the targeted muscles with only minimal discomfort. These treatments can be used on various areas throughout the face and body, depending on the desired results. The full effect and optimal results can be experienced after 3 to 7 days. It is crucial to get Botox injections only from trained professionals to ensure safety and efficacy.

What to Expect From Botox Injections

To reduce the risk of bruising, it is recommended to avoid taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications two weeks before receiving Botox injections. Alcohol consumption should also be avoided at least one week prior to the treatment. After the procedure, you can return to your daily routine with minimal discomfort. While the results of Botox are not permanent and typically last for 3 to 4 months, adhering to the recommended treatment schedule may prolong the results. Our Long Island team can provide advice on post-treatment protocols to help maximize the effects of Botox injections.
