Dysport

Targeting Glabellar Lines

Derived from the same botulinum toxins as Botox, Dysport is a convenient alternative we use at our Long Island spa to specifically target the frown lines between your eyebrows (glabellar lines).

WHAT IS DYSPORT?

Similar to Botox, Dysport is an injection of a particular botulinum toxin used to treat signs of aging on the face. Unlike Botox, however – which can be used to treat crow’s feet, laugh lines, or other signs of aging – Dysport focuses on one particular area: the space between your brows.

HOW IT WORKS

Non-invasive and requiring little to no recovery time, Dysport is administered via injection during a quick, simple procedure that lasts no more than a few minutes. The injections block muscle contractions, in turn smoothing out your skin.

BENEFITS

Dysport is considered as safe and effective as Botox. It is meant to treat moderate to severe wrinkles between the brows, not for mild cases. Dysport will allow you to specifically target your glabellar lines.

RESULTS

With little to no recovery time, Dysport injections will eliminate glabellar lines by smoothing the skin between the brows. Results last three to four months and treatment can be continued to maintain effects.

What’s The Difference Between Dysport and Botox?

Dysport and Botox are extremely similar. Both are nonsurgical injections, and are one of the various BoNT-A (botulinum neurotoxin type A) products available on the market; others include Jeaveau and Xeomin.

The exact differences between the two are still being studied, but the main, practical difference is that Dysport is specifically meant to treat glabellar lines.

Who Can Use Dysport?

Adults over the age of 18 are candidates for Dysport. If you have had an adverse reaction to Botox in the past, you should not use Dysport. Other conditions, including pregnancy, may also exclude you from treatment. In any case, your Long Island medspa will help determine whether you can use Dysport before any procedure.

What to Expect After Dysport Injections

Within a few days of treatment, the first effects of Dysport will begin to show. The effects of treatment are temporary, usually lasting around three or four months. Additional injections will be necessary if you wish to sustain desired results, so it is important that you schedule follow-up appointments.

The procedure is low-risk but may involve minor side effects. These usually include slight pain or swelling around the injection site, or minor bruising.
