PDO Thread Facelifts
Even with the best care, everyone will eventually reach a point in their lives where their skin will start to sag. The aesthetic industry has made it possible to delay sagging, and even fix it. The most common way to get visible results that reduce skin drooping is through invasive (and risky) plastic surgery.
At the Virtual Skin Spa, we decided to offer a new solution to this age-old problem. Facelifts are too invasive, expensive, and risky for many people’s comfort. We now offer a non-invasive option called PDO Thread Facelifts at our convenience Long Island location.
The quality of the technology used in PDO matters. Because we emphasize top-of-the-line care, we chose EuroThread and NovaThreads as our PDO facelifts of choice.
What Are PDO Threads?
PDO Threads are syringes filled with absorbable sutures that are made of polydioxanone, or PDO. When they are added to a person’s face, they spark an increase in collagen production that firms, tightens, and contours skin nearby. There are several different types of PDO threads to choose from, each of which has its own benefits.
What Kind Of PDO Threads Are There?
There are several different brands of PDO threads on the market. At Virtual Skin Spa, we offer both NovaThread and EuroThread brand polydioxanone threads. PDO threads can come in smooth and barbed versions.
Smooth PDO threads are created to help create volume by adding collagen that thicken skin in key areas. Barbed PDO threads are meant to lift and tighten skin, often working to reduce sagging in areas where skin has become extremely loose.
Both NovaThread and EuroThread procedures are FDA-approved and manufactured to the highest standards.
What Can PDO Threads Help Treat?
Getting a PDO facelift is a great way to look younger without having to resort to highly invasive plastic surgery. They are typically used for mild to moderate sagging, crepey skin, as well as contour improvements.
This treatment has been shown to be highly effective for the following areas:
- Crows’ feet
- And necklines!
Are PDO Threads Safe To Use?
Absolutely! PDO threads have been cleared by the FDA as safe for use. They offer minimal side effects, are far less invasive than traditional facelift methods.
The threads themselves dissolve within six months, leaving nothing but totally natural collagen in their stead. It looks natural and is as safe as can be. The same cannot be said about traditional surgical facelifts or facial implants, which can have lasting complications.
How Long Does It Take To See Results With A PDO Facelift?
Partial results can be seen within two days of getting the PDO threads inserted into your skin. However, seeing the full results will take a bit longer. Clients who try a PDO facelift typically see full results within a matter of months.
How Long Do Results Last?
The results themselves can last for up to 18 months. Many clients choose to receive a touch-up at the 12-month mark in order to prolong the effects for as long as possible.
What Does A Typical PDO Facelift Procedure Look Like?
Prior to your PDO injections, you will be required to have a consultation at Virtual Skin Spa’s convenient Long Island location. (Don’t worry, it’s right outside of New York City and easy to reach.) At your consultation, your skincare specialist will determine how many syringes you will need, the type of threads that should be used, as well as the ideal placement of your threads.
Once you have the consultation, you will need to book an appointment for the actual procedure.
During the beginning of the procedure, a topical solution will be applied to your skin in order to numb the region. This is done for your comfort. Once your skin is sufficiently numb, your clinician will use a syringe to insert threads underneath your skin.
Most procedures will use two or three threads for each side of your face. Threads are most often applied to improve your jawline, your cheekbones, and wrinkles near your mouth. Once the threads are inserted, the procedure is complete.
If you want to receive PDO threads to other parts of your body, the treatment will involve a different number of threads and may also take slightly longer. Your specialist will explain the details in full during your consultation.
The procedure typically causes minor swelling and bruising for up to 24 hours after the threads are inserted. Thankfully, no downtime is required and you can return to your regular activities immediately after treatment.
Am I A Good Candidate For A PDO Thread Facelift?
Though this procedure is extremely safe, there are limitations as to who will work well with this treatment. An ideal candidate will be a person who:
- Has concerns about mild to moderate skin sagging
- Hasn’t received Botox or other neurotoxin treatments in the past two weeks
- Hasn’t taken blood thinners in the past two weeks
You no longer have to book a plastic surgery appointment in order to get the youthful visage of your past. PDO threads make it possible to get a more natural, convenient, and effective facelift.
